Enhanced Audit Services

Disability Support Services is strengthening its audit and assurance programme.  

The goal of this programme is to ensure that the safety and wellbeing of disabled people under the care of DSS contracted providers is of the highest quality. This means working to support the delivery of high-quality, safe, and person-centred disability support services across New Zealand, and creating a culture of continuous improvement.

KPMG has been engaged to undertake audits across DSS funded services, starting with community residential group homes.  

The KPMG team has a mix of audit experience, clinical capability, and knowledge of the disability sector. It has a nationally distributed delivery team. The core leadership group consists of: 

  • Peter Chew - Lead Partner. Peter leads the KPMG performance improvement practice including an award-winning audit of the quality and safeguarding performance of health assets across the prison system for Corrections NZ to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for people in the care of the Correctional system. 
  • James Poskitt - Design Lead. James brings a deep understanding of the disability support sector from his experience in senior roles including leading the Disability System Transformation Programme, the COVID-19 response to the disability sector and the machinery of government to establish Whaikaha - Ministry of Disabled People.  
  • Emma Williams - Delivery Lead and Clinical SME. Emma leads the health account at KPMG New Zealand. Emma brings over 26 years of clinical experience alongside over 10 years of programme management expertise. Emma will ensure that the programme is achieving its timelines and delivering high quality outcomes. Emma will also convene and Chair the Clinical Advisory group providing oversight of clinical practices. 
  • Kirill Voronchev – Audit Excellence Lead. Kirill is an experienced public sector auditor and assurance professional. Kirill will ensure that the audit programme delivers to high-quality standards and brings insightful analysis of the audit results for DSS. He will also ensure that KPMG brings continuous improvement to its delivery approach and shares audit and assurance good practice with DSS.
