The Disability Support Services Bill has passed its third reading in Parliament. It will now progress through the final stages of the parliamentary process external, before becoming law.
The new legislation will provide a legal framework, and a solid foundation for future improvements to the disability support service system. It’s an important step in strengthening DSS with a solid legislative framework.
Because it reflects how DSS operates today, it does not change current eligibility, support or funding allocations.
It also does not place any new obligations or expectations on families or carers.
